A mi parecer, el MEJOR software de la historia... basado en el legendario Norton Commander (D.O.S.).
Funciona bajo Windows 95,98,ME,NT,2000 y XP aunque se puede descargar de la página la versión para Windows 3.1. Tambien hay versiones para PocketPC y Windows CE.

Esta nueva version tiene cientos de correcciones y agregados, entre ellos, funciones tan utiles como tener varias solapas de directorio en cada panel, el menu de opciones fué re-distribuido, el divisor de archivos mejorado, el multi-renombrador de archivos mejorado, etc!

Una potentísima herramienta que APLASTA al torpe, poco funcional y ya obsoleto Explorador de Windows.

Es una aplicación que se vale por sí sola ya que no necesita de decompresores como el WinZip, ARJ o WinRAR.

Tampoco necesita de otros programas porque tiene funciones para segmentar y volver a unir archivos, tiene un generador y checkeador de archivos .SFV (para comprobar intergridad de datos), puede codificar y decodificar archivos, imprimir directorios, ver y editar archivos de texto, puede sincronizar directorios, conectar a servers FTP para transferencia de archivos, etc...

Su principal trabajo es el de copiar, mover, renombrar, borrar, comprimir, descomprimir, ver y editar archivos. Facilita enormente todas estas tareas por 2 razones: se puede manejar muy facilmente con teclado y muestra 2 paneles (origen y destino). Esto desemboca en rapidez y funcionalidad.

Viene traducido a mas de 20 idiomas para elegir y entre ellos obviamente está el español.

Puede comparar archivos por contenido (en bytes, hexa o binario) y tambien comparar directorios.

Trae una pontentísima utilidad de busqueda de archivos (y texto) con infinidad de opciones. Busca archivos o texto dentro de archivos comprimidos ZIP, RAR, ARJ, CAB, etc... Incluso puede buscar archivos duplicados en todo un disco.

Una reciente perlita agregada algunas versiones atrás es el multi-renombrador de archivos!
Renombra miles de archivos en un segundo. Al mejor estilo Foto001.jpg, Foto002.jpg, Foto003.jpg, Foto004.jpg...

Soporta los siguientes formatos de archivo comprimido: ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE.

Tiene un cliente FTP incorporado, con soporte para FXP, proxy y firewalls.

Puede conectarse directamente con otra PC por puerto paralelo para transferir archivos.

File handling:

Search for duplicate files.

FTP client:

Archive handling:

Archives are handled like subdirectories. You can easily copy files to and from archives. The appropriate archiving program is automatically called. pkzip, arj, lha, rar, ace and uc2 are all supported.
Built-in ZIP-compatible packer, supports long filenames! This packer is based on ZLIB by Info-Zip.
Internal unpackers for ZIP, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, CAB, RAR and ACE formats.
Additional packers can be added as plugins. See addons page.
Pack large archives in the background (separate thread).
Copy files directly from one archive to another.
